The Western Cape Education Department (WCED), in partnership with the Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA), invites suitably qualified graduates to apply for its two-year Graduate Internship Programme at the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI) and WCED Head Office.

This internship is designed to provide graduates with practical workplace experience in public administration while developing the skills and knowledge required for a successful career in the public sector.

Graduate Intern – Administration/Public Management

Location

Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI) and WCED Head Office, Western Cape

Contract Duration

24 Months (2-Year Internship Programme)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to various departments.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative processes.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and official correspondence.
  • Capture, update, and maintain records and databases.
  • Organise meetings, workshops, and training activities.
  • Assist with filing, document management, and records administration.
  • Support project implementation and monitor progress where required.
  • Provide customer service and respond to internal and external enquiries.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by supervisors.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess a relevant qualification in Administration or Public Management in one of the following categories:

Category 1 – NQF Level 7

  • Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Monthly Stipend: R6,500 (less 1% UIF)

Category 2 – NQF Level 8

  • Honours Degree
  • Monthly Stipend: R7,500 (less 1% UIF)

Category 3 – NQF Level 9

  • Master’s Degree
  • Monthly Stipend: R8,500 (less 1% UIF)

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Professional conduct and willingness to learn.
