Responsibilities
Depending on the position, successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic leadership within correctional services.
- Managing correctional centres, offender rehabilitation, and community corrections.
- Overseeing finance, facilities, infrastructure, and property management.
- Managing organisational development and human resource planning.
- Leading education, training, and offender skills development programmes.
- Coordinating social work, psychological, and spiritual care services.
- Ensuring effective security, risk management, and compliance.
- Managing information governance, records management, and compliance.
- Developing policies aligned with national legislation and departmental objectives.
- Managing departmental budgets, assets, performance information, and human resources.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess qualifications and experience relevant to the advertised position, including:
- NQF Level 7 or NQF Level 8 qualification in the relevant discipline.
- Extensive middle or senior management experience (typically 5–10 years).
- Senior Management Service (SMS) Pre-entry Certificate from the National School of Government (NSG).
- Computer literacy.
- Valid South African driver’s licence.
- Security clearance (where required).
- Professional registration where applicable.
- Excellent leadership, strategic planning, communication, financial management, and policy implementation skills.
