Logistics Advisor
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Contract Type: Fixed-term Contract
Contract Duration: Five (5) months, renewable
Salary: TZS 3,665,132 per month (Gross)
Job Purpose
The Logistics Advisor supports the successful implementation of MdM programs by ensuring efficient logistics management, procurement, supply chain coordination, fleet management, asset control, and compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
The role also supports safety and security management while ensuring logistics operations effectively meet program needs.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning and monitoring mission logistics activities.
- Supporting logistics budgeting and activity monitoring.
- Providing logistics support to program teams.
- Preparing and implementing procurement plans.
- Managing procurement processes in compliance with MdM and donor procedures.
- Coordinating supplier selection, quotations, tenders, and contracts.
- Following up deliveries and supporting international procurement and customs clearance.
- Maintaining updated supplier databases.
- Managing inventories, stock records, and organizational assets.
- Supervising receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies.
- Maintaining IT, communication, and operational equipment.
- Organizing staff transportation and movement of goods.
- Monitoring vehicle maintenance and fuel consumption.
- Supervising drivers and ensuring vehicle safety compliance.
- Managing office, accommodation, and facility maintenance.
- Supporting logistics requirements for training sessions, workshops, and field activities.
- Supervising logistics staff and organizing daily work plans.
- Training staff on MdM logistics procedures and systems.
- Preparing logistics reports and maintaining documentation.
- Supporting implementation of staff safety and security measures.
- Assisting contingency planning and emergency preparedness.
- Performing any additional duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain Management or another related field.
Experience Required
Candidates should have:
- Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
- At least two (2) years working in a similar logistics position.
- Experience working with humanitarian or non-governmental organizations.
- Experience in medical procurement.
- Experience handling international medical importation processes.
