Job Summary
Reporting to the Global Managing Director, Equitable Conservation, the Global Director will provide strategic leadership for one of The Nature Conservancy’s key global priorities. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary global team responsible for embedding Indigenous and community leadership across TNC’s conservation programs and advancing rights-based, community-led conservation approaches worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading the global strategy for Indigenous and Community Leadership in Conservation.
- Managing and mentoring a multidisciplinary global team.
- Embedding Indigenous and community leadership across TNC’s conservation initiatives.
- Building equitable partnerships with Indigenous Peoples, local communities, governments, and conservation organizations.
- Supporting rights-based and community-led conservation approaches.
- Influencing conservation systems, governance, partnerships, and financing mechanisms.
- Working closely with regional and global teams to achieve TNC’s 2030 conservation goals.
- Promoting self-determination and equitable conservation practices.
- Providing strategic leadership and organizational guidance across conservation programmes.
- Adapting strategies to changing conservation priorities while maintaining strong collaboration with stakeholders.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (advanced qualifications are an advantage).
- Extensive leadership experience in conservation, environmental management, advocacy, or nonprofit organizations.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong understanding of Indigenous rights and community-led conservation.
- Experience working within international or global organizations.
- Strong strategic planning and decision-making skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership-building abilities.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
