The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) has announced new senior management job vacancies for suitably qualified candidates. These opportunities are based in Pretoria and are open to professionals with extensive experience in public administration, policy development, stakeholder management, and socio-economic transformation. The Department is inviting applications from qualified South Africans before the closing date of 17 July 2026 at 16:00.

About the Department

The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) is responsible for leading South Africa’s socio-economic transformation by promoting the empowerment and participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities. Its mandate includes:

  • Mainstreaming gender, youth and disability issues across government.
  • Promoting advocacy and policy implementation.
  • Monitoring and evaluating government programmes.
  • Supporting inclusive development and equal participation.

Available Vacancies

1. Deputy Director General: Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Coordination

Reference Number: DWYPD/008/2026 (Re-advertisement)

Salary

R1,885,710 per annum (Level 15)
(Full inclusive remuneration package)
Location: Pretoria

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Appropriate postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) recognized by SAQA in:
    • Social Sciences
    • Development Studies
    • or related qualification.
  • NQF Level 9 qualification or higher will be an added advantage.
  • National School of Government SMS Pre-Entry Programme Certificate.
  • At least 8 years’ experience at senior managerial level.

Required Experience

Candidates should demonstrate experience in:

  • Gender, youth and disability activism.
  • Policy development and implementation.
  • Socio-economic transformation.
  • Monitoring and evaluation.
  • Research and knowledge management.
  • Executive stakeholder management.
  • Strategic planning and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead research and knowledge management programmes.
  • Coordinate international relations.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor and evaluate government-wide programmes.
  • Oversee policy implementation.
  • Manage the Branch budget and performance.
  • Coordinate initiatives promoting the rights of women, youth and persons with disabilities.

2. Chief Director: International Relations, Stakeholder Management and Capacity Building

Salary

R1,554,696 per annum (Level 14)
(Fully inclusive remuneration package)
Location: Pretoria

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Appropriate undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) recognized by SAQA in:
    • International Relations
    • Social Sciences
    • Development Studies
    • or equivalent qualification.
  • National School of Government SMS Pre-Entry Programme Certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience at senior managerial level.

Required Experience

Ideal candidates should possess experience in:

  • International relations.
  • Government policy analysis.
  • Stakeholder engagement.
  • Gender, youth and disability programmes.
  • Governance and public administration.
  • Capacity building initiatives.
  • Executive-level coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing international relations for the Department.
  • Coordinating South Africa’s reporting on international commitments.
  • Building strategic bilateral and multilateral partnerships.
  • Managing stakeholder participation programmes.
  • Supporting intergovernmental relations.
  • Coordinating capacity-building initiatives.
  • Providing advisory services across government.
  • Managing financial and human resources within the Chief Directorate.
