Northern Engineering Works Limited (NEWL) is inviting applications from motivated students and recent graduates for the position of Human Resources Intern based in Arusha, Tanzania. The successful intern will work closely with the HR & Administration team, gaining hands-on experience in key HR functions such as recruitment, onboarding, employee documentation, reporting, and compliance with Tanzanian labor regulations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Human Resources Intern, your duties will include:

1. Recruitment & Staffing Support

  • Assisting with posting job advertisements on approved platforms
  • Screening job applications
  • Supporting interview scheduling, coordination, and follow-ups

2. Employee Onboarding

  • Supporting orientation and induction for new employees
  • Assisting in preparing onboarding documents and materials

3. HR Records & Documentation

  • Maintaining accurate and updated employee files
  • Supporting filing and updating HR policies, contracts, and related documents

4. HR Reporting & Administration

  • Assisting in preparing HR reports, summaries, and presentations for management
  • Supporting general HR administrative duties as assigned

5. Training & Development

  • Assisting in organizing internal training sessions, workshops, and staff development activities

6. Employee Engagement & Workplace Culture

  • Participating in planning and supporting staff engagement initiatives
  • Contributing to activities that promote a positive workplace culture

7. Policy & Compliance Exposure

  • Learning and applying HR policies aligned with Tanzanian labor laws and company regulations

Qualifications & Competencies

Academic Requirements

Applicants must be:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Degree in:
    • Human Resources Management
    • Business Administration
    • Or any other related field

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens
