Position Summary

The Transport Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all transportation activities within the organization. The role includes fleet management, driver supervision, route optimization, budget control, regulatory compliance, and implementation of transport safety programs.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing transport strategies, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Managing daily transportation operations and maximizing fleet utilization.
  • Supervising drivers and transport personnel to ensure high performance and professionalism.
  • Ensuring compliance with transport regulations, road safety requirements, labor laws, and environmental standards.
  • Monitoring vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, licensing, and insurance requirements.
  • Preparing transport schedules and optimizing routes to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Investigating accidents, incidents, and customer complaints and implementing corrective measures.
  • Managing fuel consumption, transport budgets, and operational expenditures.
  • Maintaining accurate transport records, reports, and documentation.
  • Conducting driver performance assessments and recommending training programs where necessary.
  • Coordinating with suppliers, regulatory authorities, internal departments, and external stakeholders.
  • Promoting compliance with company health, safety, and security policies.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Transport, Logistics, Fleet Management, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in transport or fleet management.
  • A minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial position.
