Minimum Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful applicants will assist with providing effective and efficient laundry services at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Laundry. Their responsibilities will include:

  • Collecting and receiving soiled linen from health institutions.
  • Sorting dirty linen according to the appropriate categories.
  • Preparing soiled linen for washing.
  • Preparing washed items for ironing and pressing.
  • Folding clean linen after processing.
  • Conveying ironed and folded linen to the relevant areas.
  • Conducting quality checks on finished linen.
  • Ensuring linen is handled safely and correctly throughout the laundry process.
  • Signing the attendance register when reporting for and leaving work.
  • Wearing the prescribed uniform as required.
  • Wearing a name tag or laundry identification while on duty.
  • Maintaining professional conduct and good time management.
  • Complying with conditions of employment and the applicable code of conduct.
  • Attending workshops, meetings and training programmes when required.
  • Assisting managers with general laundry functions.
  • Supporting effective laundry management services.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Adhering to operational timelines.
  • Complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Carrying out lawful and reasonable instructions from supervisors.
  • Participating in continuous training and development programmes.
  • Complying with the Performance Management and Development System, including contracting, quarterly reviews and final assessments.

Shift Work and Overtime
