The Chato Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (CHAWASSA) has officially announced multiple volunteer contract employment opportunities for qualified Tanzanians. The positions are offered on a one-year volunteer contract basis and are aimed at supporting the authority’s operations in water supply, sanitation services, laboratory management, customer service, and technical infrastructure.

The Executive Director of CHAWASSA invites competent, motivated, and qualified Tanzanian citizens to submit applications for various available positions. This recruitment exercise presents an excellent opportunity for young professionals and skilled technicians seeking to gain valuable experience in the water and sanitation sector.

Available Positions

CHAWASSA is recruiting for the following positions:

1. Plumbing Technician Grade II (Fundi Bomba) – 8 Positions

Successful candidates will be responsible for attending water leakages, carrying out repairs, assisting with new water connections, monitoring water losses, preparing reports, and supporting maintenance of the water distribution system.

Requirements:

  • Form Four or Form Six education.
  • Level II Plumbing Technician Certificate from a government-recognized institution.
  • At least one year of relevant work experience.

2. Meter Reader Grade II – 5 Positions

The Meter Reader will be responsible for reading water meters, distributing bills, collecting customer debt information, reconnecting and disconnecting services, and inspecting water meters.

Requirements:

  • Form Four or Form Six education.
  • Level II Plumbing Technician qualification from a recognized institution.
  • At least one year of relevant experience.

3. Assistant Records Management Officer Grade II – 1 Position

The successful candidate will support records management activities including file tracking, document registration, records distribution, and maintaining filing systems.

Requirements:

  • Form Four or Form Six education.
  • Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Records Management from a recognized institution.
  • Computer literacy skills.
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience.

4. Secretary Grade II – 1 Position

The Secretary will provide administrative and office support services, manage correspondence, coordinate office schedules, receive visitors, and maintain office records.

Requirements:

  • Form Four or Form Six certificate or Diploma qualification.
  • Secretarial Studies Certificate.
  • Typing and shorthand proficiency in both Kiswahili and English at a speed of 100 words per minute.
  • Computer certificates in Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet, Email, and Publisher.
  • At least one year of work experience.

5. Assistant GIS Officer Grade II – 1 Position

The GIS Assistant will support geographic information systems operations, data collection, mapping activities, database management, and water network mapping.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related field.
  • Minimum one year of relevant work experience.

6. Laboratory Technician Grade II – 2 Positions

The Laboratory Technician will conduct water quality testing, laboratory analyses, treatment process monitoring, data recording, and support water quality assurance activities.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTOC) in Water Laboratory Engineering, Water Laboratory Technology, or related fields.
  • At least one year of relevant experience.

7. Water Treatment Plant Operator (Fundi Mchundo) – 2 Positions

The Water Treatment Plant Operator will operate water pumps, monitor water storage facilities, maintain treatment equipment, monitor power supply, and ensure proper chemical dosing.

Requirements:

  • Form Four or Form Six education.
  • Trade Test Grade I/II, NTA Level 4 or 5 in Pump Mechanics, Electronics, Electrical Installation, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum one year of work experience.

General Requirements for All Applicants

All applicants must:

  • Be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 30 years.
  • Have no criminal record.
  • Submit certified copies of academic and professional certificates.
  • Attach certified copies of birth certificates.
  • Submit a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) with reliable contacts and three referees.
  • Attach one recent passport-size photograph.
  • Include a copy of National ID (NIDA) or National Identification Number (NIN).
  • Ensure certificates obtained outside Tanzania are verified by relevant authorities such as NECTA or NACTVET.
  • Submit applications written in Kiswahili.

Important Note

The following documents will not be accepted:

  • Testimonials.
  • Provisional results.
  • Statement of results.
  • Form IV or Form VI result slips.
  • Academic transcripts submitted without corresponding certificates.

Applicants found submitting forged certificates or false information will face legal action.
