Position Overview
1. Professional Engineer (Civil) – Ref No: MISA/PE-CIV/03 (6 Posts)
This position is ideal for experienced Civil Engineers who are passionate about supporting municipalities with infrastructure development and service delivery improvements.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- A Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng/BSc Eng) or an equivalent qualification at NQF Level 7 recognized by SAQA.
- At least three years of post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering.
- Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer.
- Strong knowledge of engineering design, infrastructure planning, project management, contract management, and municipal infrastructure legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Support municipalities with civil engineering services.
- Conduct infrastructure diagnostics for underperforming municipalities.
- Assist municipalities with infrastructure planning, implementation, operations, and maintenance.
- Support feasibility studies, engineering design, procurement, project management, and contract management.
- Develop and review municipal infrastructure master plans.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, policies, and legislation.

2. Assistant Director: Infrastructure Asset Management – Ref No: MISA/IAA/22 (2 Posts)
This opportunity is suitable for professionals with experience in infrastructure asset management and municipal infrastructure planning.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A National Diploma or Degree in the Built Environment or equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
- Between 3 and 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Excellent planning, project management, reporting, presentation, and people management skills.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will:
- Coordinate infrastructure asset assessments.
- Develop municipal infrastructure asset registers.
- Support municipalities in assessing maintenance budgets.
- Analyze infrastructure expenditure against approved budgets.
- Provide technical advice on infrastructure maintenance planning and budgeting.
3. Internal Auditor – Ref No: MISA/IA/23 (1 Post)
MISA is also seeking a qualified Internal Auditor to strengthen governance, compliance, and risk management within the organization.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A National Diploma or Degree in Internal Auditing or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
- At least 3 years of experience in Internal Auditing.
- Knowledge of:
- Internal auditing standards
- Operational and performance audits
- Risk management
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
- Treasury Regulations
- Policy development
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Conduct internal audits and investigations.
- Develop audit programmes and process documentation.
- Draft audit reports and present findings.
- Monitor implementation of audit recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with Treasury Regulations, PFMA, and Internal Audit professional standards.
