Job Purpose

The Local Office Manager will oversee the daily operations of a Department of Home Affairs office while ensuring efficient service delivery, operational excellence, compliance with government regulations, and effective management of staff and resources.

The successful candidate will also support the department’s digital transformation initiatives and ensure that citizens receive high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Managing the overall operations of the local office.
  • Ensuring efficient delivery of civic and immigration services.
  • Supervising the issuance of identity documents, passports, birth, marriage and death certificates.
  • Managing immigration inspectorate activities within the office.
  • Implementing departmental strategies and operational plans.
  • Promoting digital transformation initiatives and innovation.
  • Monitoring service delivery standards and operational performance.
  • Managing financial, human and physical resources.
  • Strengthening governance, compliance and risk management.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders and representing the office at various forums.
  • Coaching and supporting employees to improve performance and regulatory compliance.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) recognised by SAQA in:
    • Public Management
    • Public Administration
    • Operations Management
    • Business Management
    • Administration
    • Law
    • Social Sciences
  • At least three years’ experience at Junior Management or Assistant Director level within a customer service or operations environment.
  • Experience in Civic or Immigration Operations will be an added advantage.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours.
