Position Details

  • Job Title: Field Intern (2 Positions)
  • Reports To: Office Project Manager / Project Officer
  • Location: Makere Compound, Kasulu District, Kigoma Region, Tanzania
  • Contract Duration: March – September 2026 (renewable annually based on performance and/or funding availability)

Under the overall authority of the Country Director of Good Neighbors Tanzania (GNTZ), the Field Intern will support food distribution and growth monitoring activities, ensuring compliance with humanitarian standards, donor requirements, and organizational policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Food Distribution Support

  • Assist in beneficiary identification, registration, and verification
  • Support preparation and supervised distribution of food items and nutritional supplements
  • Ensure adherence to established distribution protocols and humanitarian standards
  • Maintain accurate distribution sheets and registers
  • Collaborate with incentive workers, camp zone leaders, and host community representatives

2. Growth Monitoring & Nutrition

  • Accurately record and compile growth monitoring data
  • Assist in tracking child weight gain (baseline and endline surveys)
  • Maintain growth charts and monitoring tools
  • Provide field insights to improve food and nutrition programming

3. Reporting & Documentation

  • Contribute to monthly activity reports
  • Compile daily and weekly field activity updates
  • Support preparation of activity summaries and monitoring reports
  • Ensure proper documentation, filing, and submission
  • Maintain confidentiality and protection of beneficiary data

4. Teamwork & Capacity Building

  • Support implementation and monitoring of capacity-building sessions
  • Work collaboratively during distributions and monitoring exercises

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Nutrition or related field
  • Prior humanitarian experience (internship, volunteer work, NGO placement, or refugee setting exposure) is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of anthropometric measurement techniques, food distribution, and nutrition programming
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office applications)
