The School Governing Body is seeking an experienced Remedial / Learning Support Teacher to strengthen its Learner Support Department.
Position Details
Position: Remedial / Learning Support Teacher
Location: Eerste River, Cape Town
Employment Start Date: 15 August 2026
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting baseline assessments to identify learners requiring additional support.
- Developing and implementing Individualized Support Plans (ISPs).
- Providing one-on-one and small-group remedial instruction.
- Adapting classroom learning materials to meet learners’ cognitive and physical needs.
- Working closely with mainstream teachers, parents, and allied professionals, including speech and occupational therapists.
- Monitoring learner progress and preparing regular academic and developmental reports.
- Supporting inclusive education practices that promote learner success.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ proven experience in remedial teaching or inclusive learning support.
- Current registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
- Strong proficiency in both English and Afrikaans.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A compassionate, patient, and learner-focused approach to teaching.
