The Department of Defence is committed to strengthening its institutional capacity through the filling of key strategic and administrative posts across its divisions. In line with its Employment Equity Plan, the Department aims to promote representivity in terms of race, gender, and disability. Appointments will be guided by transformation targets to ensure inclusive participation in the public service.

These vacancies form part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to enhance governance, financial management, defence capability development, international cooperation, and administrative efficiency within the defence environment. All posts are based primarily at the Department of Defence Headquarters and Armscor Building, Erasmuskloof, Pretoria, with some functions linked to defence structures and international engagements.

Responsible for strategic defence acquisition, materiel governance, technology development, and oversight of procurement systems.

2. Chief financial officer (Ref: 17/16/26/2)

Provides financial leadership, budgeting oversight, audit coordination, and compliance with PFMA regulations.

3. Chief director: budget management (Ref: 17/16/26/3)

Oversees budget planning, expenditure control, and decentralised financial management.

4. Chief director: accounting (Ref: 17/16/26/4)

Responsible for accounting systems, payments, central accounts, and financial reporting.

5. Chief director: international affairs (Ref: 17/16/26/5)

Manages defence diplomacy, international agreements, and multilateral cooperation.

6. Assistant director: contract marketing (Ref: DPSP/15/16/26/01)

Supports arms control processes and contract administration.

7. Administrative officer (Ref: DPSP/15/16/26/02)

Provides administrative and operational support services.

8. Provisioning administration clerk: production (Ref: DPSP/15/16/26/03)

Handles supply chain and asset management support.

Provides registry and records management services.
