Radiographer

Department: Estate Support Function
Reports To: Medical Officer

The Radiographer will be responsible for providing safe, accurate, and high-quality diagnostic imaging services that support effective clinical diagnosis and treatment while ensuring compliance with radiation safety standards and patient care procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including X-rays and ultrasounds to support accurate patient diagnosis.
  • Assess patient history and clinical requirements to determine suitable imaging procedures and techniques.
  • Provide psychological support to patients and address concerns related to imaging procedures.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media according to clinical protocols and safety standards.
  • Conduct portable diagnostic scans for patients unable to access the radiology unit where equipment is available.
  • Monitor patients during imaging procedures to ensure their safety.
  • Organize image results, develop films, and assist doctors with radiology result interpretation.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate patient records.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation protection and health safety requirements.
  • Monitor radiology stock levels and manage medical imaging consumables.
  • Maintain, sterilize, store, and ensure operational readiness of radiology equipment.
  • Report equipment faults and support maintenance activities.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of current radiology practices.
  • Supervise Radiology Assistants and trainee Radiographers.
  • Assist with timely medical aid claims submission and patient payment procedures.
  • Follow Infection Prevention and Control guidelines and universal precautions.
  • Promote compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and professional standards.
  • Provide professional and patient-focused healthcare services.

Job Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Diploma in Radiography (Diagnostic Radiography), Radiologic Technology, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Competence in diagnostic ultrasound and reporting.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), and healthcare software applications will be an added advantage.
  • Full registration and valid practicing licence with the Eswatini Medical and Dental Council.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong patient service skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety practices and guidelines.
