SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania is a local non-governmental organization affiliated with SOS Children’s Villages International, which has been operating globally for over 60 years. The organization provides orphaned and vulnerable children with permanent family homes and educational opportunities. SOS Children’s Villages International currently operates in 135 countries worldwide, running the SOS Children’s Village Programme with two main arms:
- Family-Like Care: Based at SOS Children’s Villages.
- Family Strengthening Programmes: Supporting families in local communities.
SOS Children’s Villages has been active in Tanzania since 1991, with programs running in Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Iringa, Dodoma, and Mtwara.
1. Head of Programmes
Duty Station: National Office – Dar es Salaam
Reporting to: National Director
Job Summary:
Provides strategic leadership, technical direction, and oversight of all programmes, ensuring high relevance, impact, and sustainability aligned with SOS Tanzania’s mission and strategic plan.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead design, implementation, and monitoring of all programmes.
- Transition residential care to family- and community-based care models.
- Develop operational plans, budgets, and results frameworks.
- Ensure evidence-based, child-centred, gender-responsive programming.
- Strengthen monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems.
- Build strategic partnerships with government, donors, and civil society.
- Support funding proposals and donor engagement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 8–10 years of progressive experience in child protection or related programmes.
- Strong leadership, donor management, analytical, and communication skills.
- Fluency in English and Swahili.
2. Head of MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning)
Duty Station: National Office – Dar es Salaam
Reporting to: National Director
Job Summary:
Leads and oversees MEAL frameworks to ensure quality assurance, evidence-based decision-making, and timely reporting across all programmes.
Major Responsibilities:
- Design and implement robust MEAL systems.
- Monitor programme outcomes and KPIs.
- Strengthen accountability, child safeguarding, and learning mechanisms.
- Coordinate gender mainstreaming and research initiatives.
- Collaborate with government, NGOs, and academia.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in MEAL, Statistics, Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field.
- 8–10 years of MEAL experience, with at least 5 in leadership roles.
- Knowledge of vulnerable children, families, and communities.
- Competent in MS Office and MEAL software.
3. Senior Family Strengthening Coordinator
Duty Station: Head of Programmes – Dar es Salaam
Job Summary:
Leads planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Family Strengthening Programmes (FSP) to support children and families in line with organizational strategies.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Social Sciences or Community Development; Master’s preferred.
- 5–7 years in programme coordination/management.
- Strong knowledge of child rights, family strengthening, and gender equality frameworks.
4. National Advocacy Coordinator
Duty Station: National Office – Dar es Salaam
Reporting to: National Director
Job Summary:
Coordinates the national advocacy strategy to promote justice and child rights, liaising between government, civil society, and SOS Children’s Villages programmes.
Qualifications:
- Experience in policy advocacy, research, and child rights programmes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
5. Family Strengthening and Community Coordinator
Duty Station: Mwanza
Reporting to: Program Manager
Job Summary:
Leads community-based family strengthening programmes, coordinating with local authorities, NGOs, and partner organizations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Community Development, Social Work, or equivalent.
- 4–6 years’ experience in community development/OVC programmes.
- Strong knowledge of child rights, communication, and reporting.
6. Logistics and Administration Officer
Duty Station: Mwanza
Reporting to: Program Manager
Job Summary:
Supports operational and administrative management, including procurement, inventory, staff orientation, and logistics for programme events.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or Procurement.
- 2+ years’ experience in logistics and administration.
7. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Duty Station: Mwanza
Reporting to: Program Manager
Job Summary:
Implements M&E systems, develops tools, and supports data collection, analysis, and reporting to strengthen organizational learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Project Management, Economics, or related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in M&E in NGOs.
- Strong communication and data analysis skills.
8. Human Resources Officer (2 posts)
Duty Station: Head of HR/OD & Admin
Job Summary:
Supports HR functions including recruitment, payroll, staff records, and compliance with HR policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Human Resource Management or related field.
- Experience in HR, strong communication, and confidentiality.
9. Fundraising Coordinator
Duty Station: Zanzibar
Reporting to: Deputy National Director
Job Summary:
Supports fundraising, sponsorship, and communication activities to sustain SOS Children’s Villages Zanzibar programmes.
Qualifications:
- MBA preferred in Business, Marketing, or PR.
- 5+ years’ experience in fundraising and donor relations.
10. Education and Health Programme Officer (2 posts)
Duty Station: Pwani (1) and Dar es Salaam (1)
Reporting to: Family Strengthening and Community Coordinator
Job Summary:
Facilitates access to education and health services, builds community capacity, and supports vulnerable children and caregivers.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Education, or related field.
- 2+ years’ experience in education/health programmes.
- Knowledge of child rights, safeguarding, and community development.
