Qatar Airways has announced a new career opportunity within its Airport Operations team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for the position of Airport Services Duty Supervisor. This role is part of the airline’s ground operations function and is designed for experienced aviation professionals with strong leadership and operational coordination skills.
Overview of the Role
The Airport Services Duty Supervisor is responsible for supervising and controlling all flight-handling activities at the airport, including check-in, boarding, transfers, and flight editing. The main objective of the role is to ensure smooth airport operations, high service standards, and on-time flight departures while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
The position also requires the ability to effectively manage operational disruptions such as flight delays, denied boarding situations, and irregular operations, ensuring passengers receive timely assistance and support.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be expected to:
- Act as a station coordinator in collaboration with Ground Handling Agents (GHA) and Qatar Airways departments to ensure on-time performance.
- Supervise airport teams to achieve timely flight closure and boarding processes.
- Coordinate ramp handling activities with service providers such as catering, fueling, maintenance, cargo, and crew teams.
- Optimize manpower allocation and ensure efficient shift planning for customer service agents.
- Monitor flight movements, load updates, and operational messages, ensuring all departments are properly informed.
- Support the Airport Services Duty Officer during disruptions, misconnections, and denied boarding cases, ensuring passenger care is prioritized.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination between all airport stakeholders to maintain operational efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Airport Services Manager.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in airport or airline operations.
- Strong command of English (spoken and written).
- Training and knowledge in:
- Passenger Services (Altea)
- Baggage Services (WorldTracer)
- Ground Operations (GSM/GOM)
- Dangerous Goods Regulations
- Weight and Balance procedures
- Amadeus Reservations & Ticketing, including ID/AD tickets
- High level of computer literacy.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills in operational environments.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced airport environment with shift duties.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Must have the legal right to live and work in Tanzania.
