Zanzibar Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) Vacancies 2026

The Public Service Commission, on behalf of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, invites applications for the position of Director General of the Zanzibar Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).

The Zanzibar Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) was established under Act No. 4 of 2013. The Corporation is governed by an Advisory Board and headed by the Director General.

The Corporation’s primary objectives include providing education, entertainment, and information to the public through television and radio broadcasting that contributes to social, economic, cultural, and political development. It also aims to promote national unity and cultural integration while operating as a commercially viable public broadcasting institution.

The Government is therefore seeking a qualified and competent Director General who can lead the Corporation efficiently and effectively to meet the expectations of both the Government and the public.

Applicant Qualifications

Applicants must:

Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in one or more of the following fields:
- Mass Communication
- Business Administration
- Public Administration
- Information Technology
  from a university or institution recognized by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar. Candidates with a Master’s Degree or higher will have an added advantage.
Have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience in the broadcasting industry.
Possess substantial professional knowledge, skills, and experience in broadcasting.

Expertise and experience in Media Management.
Strong team-building skills.
The ability to make decisions and effectively oversee their implementation.
Creativity and innovation.
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Managing the Corporation’s day-to-day operations.
Preparing and overseeing the implementation of the Corporation’s five-year strategic plan.
Ensuring that the Corporation’s assets are used properly and responsibly.
Supervising broadcasting operations for ZBC TV, ZBC Radio, and ZBC 2, ensuring that all programs are produced in accordance with applicable policies and laws.
Managing broadcasts transmitted through the Byte digital decoder platform as well as the Corporation’s social media platforms.
