1. Site Waste Supervisor

Location: Mnazi Bay–Msimbati–Mtwara
Reports to: WNE Manager

Role Overview

The Site Waste Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing daily waste management activities on-site, ensuring compliance with project waste plans, local regulations, and environmental standards. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical understanding of waste management systems, and the ability to coordinate teams, contractors, and stakeholders.

  • Physical Ability: Able to conduct inspections in different weather conditions and perform occasional heavy lifting
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with local waste management laws and best practices
  • Residence Requirement: Must be a resident of Mtwara Region, preferably originating from Mtwara District Council

2. Site Waste Attendant

Location: Mnazi Bay–Msimbati–Mtwara
Reports to: WNE Manager

Role Overview

The Site Waste Attendant will support waste handling operations by sorting, collecting, labeling, and managing waste streams according to environmental and safety standards. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Core Competencies and Skills

Successful candidates should have:

  • Waste Identification and Sorting Skills: Ability to categorize, segregate, label, collect, and document waste streams correctly
  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of OH&S procedures and ability to follow safety precautions
  • Customer Service and Communication: Ability to assist workers, explain rules, and enforce site waste procedures politely
  • Record Keeping and Administration: Ability to manage collection and weighing records

Key Duties

The Site Waste Attendant will:

  • Sort and segregate waste into designated bins (recyclables, hazardous, general waste)
  • Collect waste and move it to storage areas
  • Maintain cleanliness of waste storage areas and surrounding environments
  • Assist in waste loading and offloading activities
  • Report waste-related issues or hazards to the supervisor
  • Follow safety procedures while handling waste

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: Basic education required (Form IV or Form VI certificate preferred)
  • Experience: Prior experience in waste management, heavy equipment operations, or customer-facing roles is an advantage
  • Residence Requirement: Must be a resident of Mtwara Region, preferably from Mtwara District Council, specifically Mnazi Bay/Msimbati area
