Data Analyst

Department: Tanzania Economic Research Institute (TERI)
Unit: Research, Monitoring & Analytics Unit
Employment Type: Full-time (Consultancy/Project-Based)
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam, with occasional field travel

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Collect, clean, validate, and organise data from surveys and field research.
  • Analyse data from national institutions and development partner databases.
  • Design and maintain databases, spreadsheets, dashboards, and project datasets.
  • Conduct statistical, trend, comparative, and time-series analysis.
  • Prepare charts, tables, and visualisations for reports and presentations.
  • Support the design of research and data collection tools.
  • Perform quality assurance and fact-checking of project data.
  • Prepare technical annexes and evidence sections for reports and proposals.
  • Maintain proper documentation and version control of analytical outputs.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation activities across consultancy assignments.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, Demography, or a related quantitative field.
  • At least two years of experience in data analysis, research, or monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience in a consultancy, research institute, or development organisation is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SPSS, STATA, R, or Python.
  • Knowledge of Power BI or Tableau will be an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of Tanzania’s economic and statistical data environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Economist

Department: Tanzania Economic Research Institute (TERI)
Employment Type: Full-time with Assignment-Based Consultancy Engagements
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam, with regional and international travel

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead macroeconomic and sector research studies.
  • Provide technical leadership on PPP feasibility studies and transaction advisory assignments.
  • Conduct economic, financial, statistical, and econometric analyses.
  • Prepare technical reports, policy papers, investor guidebooks, and proposals.
  • Represent TICGL in engagements with government institutions and development partners.
  • Provide strategic advice on economic policy, investment, and sector development.
  • Supervise economists, data analysts, and research teams.
  • Ensure quality assurance of all research outputs.
  • Support business development through proposal preparation.
  • Contribute to institutional research publications and thought leadership.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • Master’s Degree in Economics, Development Economics, Public Policy, Finance, or a related field.
  • A PhD in Economics or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • Master’s degree holders should have 5–8 years of relevant experience.
  • PhD holders should have 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in economic research, policy analysis, PPP advisory, or investment consultancy.
  • Strong quantitative, econometric, financial modelling, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in STATA, EViews, R, or Python.
  • Professional certifications such as CP3P or FMVA will be an added advantage.

Policy Analyst

Department: Tanzania Economic Research Institute (TERI)
Unit: Research, Policy & Advisory Unit
Employment Type: Full-time with Assignment-Based Consultancy Engagements
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam, with occasional regional travel

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct policy research on economic, fiscal, investment, and sector issues.
  • Analyse laws, regulations, government strategies, and policy frameworks.
  • Prepare policy briefs, technical memoranda, and position papers.
  • Support PPP policy and institutional assignments.
  • Monitor policy and regulatory developments affecting clients.
  • Contribute policy analysis to feasibility studies, proposals, and advisory reports.
  • Support stakeholder consultations and policy dialogue events.
  • Collaborate with economists and data analysts on evidence-based recommendations.
  • Monitor implementation of government policies and identify emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare institutional correspondence and engagement materials.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in policy analysis, research, or advisory services.
  • Experience in consultancy firms, research institutes, government, or development organisations is preferred.
  • Good understanding of Tanzania’s policy, investment, PPP, and public finance environment.
  • Strong analytical writing and report preparation skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, while experience with STATA or R is an added advantage.
