Available Job Vacancies

1. Grade III B Teacher – 2 Positions

Sumbawanga Municipal Council is recruiting two (2) Grade III B Teachers to teach English Language in primary schools.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Preparing lesson plans, teaching schemes, and learning materials.
  • Teaching pupils according to the approved curriculum.
  • Assessing learners and maintaining academic progress records.
  • Supervising and monitoring students’ attendance and discipline.
  • Providing academic guidance and counseling to pupils.
  • Offering professional advice on educational development.
  • Managing and safeguarding school property.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher.
  • Teaching Mathematics and Science subjects where required.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) or Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (Form VI).
  • Possess a Diploma in Education or an NTA Level 6 Teaching Certificate from a Government-recognized institution.
  • Have passed Mathematics, Science, and English.
  • Be proficient in the English language.

2. Grade II Driver – 9 Positions

The council is also recruiting nine (9) Grade II Drivers to support transportation services within the municipality.

Key Responsibilities

Selected drivers will be expected to:

  • Inspect vehicles before and after every trip to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
  • Drive and maintain assigned vehicles properly.
  • Carry out minor vehicle maintenance.
  • Record all journeys in the official vehicle logbook.
  • Keep vehicles clean at all times.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by their supervisors.
  • Assist employees and passengers while observing safety regulations and reporting any issues encountered during official duties.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV).
  • Possess a valid Class A2 Driving Licence for motor vehicles.
  • Have at least one (1) year of accident-free driving experience.
  • Have completed a Basic Driving Course from VETA or another Government-recognized training institution.
