1. Senior Open Pit Supervisor – 1 Post
Reports to: Senior Mining Engineer
Roster: 6 Weeks ON, 3 Weeks OFF
Contract: Open Ended
Role Purpose
The Senior Open Pit Supervisor will coordinate and supervise load and haul operations according to the daily mining plan, ensuring that production targets and equipment utilization requirements are achieved safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise daily load and haul activities.
- Ensure production targets are achieved safely and according to the mining plan.
- Lead pre-shift meetings and allocate resources to the team.
- Manage subordinate performance, employee leave and shift handovers.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies and Tanzanian mining laws.
- Inspect mining areas and ensure work complies with design, safety and environmental standards.
- Manage equipment availability and ensure equipment is operated according to training requirements.
- Coordinate scheduled servicing and breakdown maintenance with HME mechanics.
- Work closely with Drill and Blast, Dewatering, Survey, Geotechnical and Production teams.
- Monitor machine performance against the daily plan.
- Identify non-performance and recommend improvements to the Senior Mining Engineer.
- Minimize ore losses and dilution during mining operations.
- Ensure required tools and resources are available before each shift.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor or Head of Department.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate of Secondary Education (O/Level) or equivalent.
- Valid Tanzanian Driving Licence.
- At least 10 years of mining operations experience.
- Proven competency in at least three open pit primary equipment, such as excavators, Dozers D10/D10T, Graders 16H/16M, CAT 777D, MT4400 or CAT 785C.
2. Open Pit Supervisor – 3 Posts
Reports to: Senior Open Pit Supervisor
Roster: 6 Weeks ON, 3 Weeks OFF
Contract: Open Ended
Role Purpose
The Open Pit Supervisor will assist the Senior Open Pit Supervisor in coordinating and supervising load and haul operations while ensuring that productivity and equipment utilization targets are achieved safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily load and haul activities and ensure production targets are achieved.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate important information to team members.
- Manage employee leave and support performance management.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental policies and Tanzanian mining laws.
- Inspect mining areas to ensure compliance with design, safety and environmental requirements.
- Ensure equipment is operated safely and according to training.
- Monitor equipment availability and coordinate servicing and breakdown maintenance.
- Coordinate with Drill and Blast, Dewatering, Survey, Geotechnical and other Production teams.
- Monitor machine performance against the daily plan.
- Report non-performance and recommend improvements.
- Help prevent ore losses and dilution.
- Ensure necessary tools and resources are available before shifts.
