Job Overview
Reporting to the Head of Research & Advisory, the Senior Research & Advisory Associate will have a dual mandate covering corporate advisory transaction execution and investment research.
The successful candidate will work across TSL’s Global Markets, Asset & Wealth Management and Corporate Advisory functions. The position involves supporting major transactions, developing investment research, conducting financial analysis and valuations, and engaging with corporate and institutional clients.
Key Responsibilities
Advisory and Transaction Execution
The Senior Research & Advisory Associate will:
- Lead and support corporate advisory mandates involving IPOs, bond issuances, private placements, loan syndications, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
- Prepare professional pitch books, Information Memorandums, transaction teasers and investor presentations.
- Conduct financial due diligence for client engagements.
- Perform business valuation and deal-structuring analysis.
- Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, institutional investors and strategic partners.
- Support corporate finance advisory services, including company listings, rights issues and private placements on the DSE.
- Identify new business opportunities and contribute to revenue growth through client engagement and market origination.
Investment Research and Market Intelligence
The successful candidate will also:
- Produce equity research reports and sector analyses.
- Conduct company valuations and prepare macroeconomic outlooks.
- Build and maintain advanced financial models.
- Apply DCF, Comparable Company Analysis, Precedent Transactions and LBO frameworks.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Monitor Tanzania’s capital markets and macroeconomic developments.
- Track regional economic and financial market trends.
- Generate timely and actionable investment insights.
- Develop investment strategies and product positioning ideas.
- Support Global Markets trading and Asset & Wealth Management portfolio decisions.
- Ensure research outputs comply with CMSA, DSE and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Client Engagement and Team Leadership
Responsibilities will also include:
- Presenting research findings to clients.
- Conducting market briefings and investor roadshows.
- Participating in one-on-one advisory discussions.
- Working closely with Global Markets, Asset & Wealth Management and Advisory teams.
- Maintaining TSL’s research databases and financial data systems.
- Improving analytical and research infrastructure.
- Mentoring and guiding junior analysts.
- Supporting a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive professional experience in advisory, investment research, corporate finance or capital markets.
- Experience in commercial banking, stockbroking, asset management or corporate advisory.
- Experience working in Tanzania or the wider East African financial markets is relevant.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
The following will be an advantage:
- Master’s degree or MBA.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or executing advisory transactions.
- Experience with IPOs.
- Experience with bond issuances.
- Experience with private placements.
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions.
