Job Purpose
The Relationship Manager; Parastatals will manage and grow the Salaried Workers Loan portfolio within parastatal institutions by acquiring new schemes, increasing penetration in existing schemes, and maintaining a healthy loan portfolio.
The role will also involve overseeing and supporting Direct Sales Staff (DSS) in executing SWL sales campaigns while ensuring compliance, strong customer relationships, and a positive employer experience.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Identifying, negotiating, and onboarding new parastatal schemes in line with the bank’s SWL growth strategy.
- Increasing penetration within existing parastatal schemes through regular engagement with Human Resources and Payroll officers.
- Conducting structured employer visits, presentations, and financial literacy sessions to promote awareness of SWL products.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with decision-makers within parastatal institutions.
- Preparing and implementing scheme penetration plans with measurable milestones for each parastatal.
- Providing leadership, coaching, and daily support to Direct Sales Staff to achieve SWL acquisition and disbursement targets.
- Monitoring DSS productivity, including applications, disbursements, and conversion rates.
- Taking corrective action where DSS performance does not meet expectations.
- Conducting joint field visits with DSS to employers and ensuring effective product promotion and onboarding.
- Ensuring DSS comply with applicable standards, ethical sales practices, and documentation requirements.
- Monitoring the SWL loan portfolio across parastatal schemes to ensure sustainable growth and minimal non-performing loans.
- Following up with employers regarding timely payroll deductions, reconciliations, and arrears management.
- Identifying and escalating risks affecting scheme performance.
- Taking proactive measures to prevent loan defaults and deterioration of portfolio quality.
- Preparing accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on parastatal performance and DSS activities.
- Conducting competitor analysis and gathering customer and employer feedback.
- Recommending improvements to products, processes, and market positioning.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business-related studies.
- At least 4 years of banking experience in Relationship Management and/or Loan Portfolio Management.
- Proven experience in driving lending penetration and portfolio growth is highly desirable.
- Good understanding and interest in financial and banking products and markets.
