About the QSHE Supervisor Role
The QSHE Supervisor will lead the local Quality and Food Safety team in Dar es Salaam and help ensure that raw materials and finished products meet required corporate and regulatory standards.
The position will also support the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygiene Practices (GHP), maintain compliance with the Global Quality Management System (GQMS), oversee quality audits, and promote a strong “Safety First, Quality Always” culture across the site.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of quality, safety, and food hygiene activities, including:
- Leading and coaching the plant quality assurance team.
- Promoting a strong quality and safety culture across the site.
- Ensuring compliance with HACCP, GMP, SSOP, sanitation, and allergen control programs.
- Supporting implementation of Global Quality Management System requirements.
- Conducting internal quality audits and monitoring quality performance.
- Using root-cause analysis and CAPA to address quality issues and support continuous improvement.
- Investigating customer complaints, non-conformances, and audit findings.
- Overseeing raw material receiving inspections and product testing.
- Ensuring final products meet established technical specifications.
- Developing and delivering training on food safety, GMP, and quality requirements.
- Working with different teams to maintain compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or another relevant scientific discipline.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in food quality, safety, and hygiene management.
- Experience in a multinational food manufacturing, food ingredients, or pharmaceutical environment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety systems and international quality standards.
- Strong leadership and team-management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Advantageous Certifications and Skills
Candidates with the following qualifications or experience may have an added advantage:
- FSSC 22000 certification.
- HACCP, GMP, or GHP certification.
- Certified Lead Auditor qualification.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong understanding of global food safety standards.
