TSF Supervisor
Location: Mwanza, Tanzania
Position Overview
The TSF Supervisor will support both the construction and operational phases of the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF). The successful candidate will ensure construction activities comply with company standards, supervise quality assurance processes, assist with operational planning, and support the safe management of tailings facilities throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Phase
The successful candidate will:
- Ensure all TSF and related civil infrastructure construction activities are carried out safely.
- Ensure construction works comply with the Perseus Tailings Management Standard.
- Support the Site Construction Manager and Senior Tailings Specialist to deliver projects within schedule and budget.
- Liaise with the Site Construction Manager, Senior Tailings Specialist, Group Tailings and Water Manager, Engineer of Record (EoR), and consultants.
- Ensure construction follows approved engineering drawings and specifications.
- Assist in preparing and approving Technical Queries (TQs) where necessary.
- Ensure all Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) activities are completed and documented.
- Comply with company policies relating to health, safety, environment, and community.
Operations Phase
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring all tailings management activities comply with the Perseus Tailings Management Standard.
- Supporting investigations, studies, design, construction, and operational activities.
- Assisting with communication between site teams, consultants, and technical specialists.
- Supporting preparation and management of project budgets.
- Reporting significant design, construction, and operational issues.
- Participating in technical risk assessments.
- Assisting with Tailings Management Plans and Tailings Life of Mine Plans.
- Supporting dam break studies and consequence assessments.
- Assisting in developing and reviewing Operations, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) Manuals and Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPs).
- Conducting inspections and preparing reports.
- Ensuring monitoring data is collected and submitted accurately.
- Assisting with storage capacity reviews.
- Supporting audits and independent technical reviews.
- Assisting with Emergency Action and Response Plans (EARP) and emergency simulation exercises.
- Providing on-the-job training to site personnel where appropriate.
