The NCDMB has launched the Oil & Gas Field Readiness Training Program 2025, a large-scale Human Capital Development (HCD) initiative designed to train over 10,000 young Nigerians in world-class oil and gas skills.
This nationwide program aims to equip young graduates and technicians with the technical, digital, and operational expertise required to excel in one of the country’s most dynamic and lucrative industries.
About the NCDMB
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is a federal agency committed to promoting indigenous participation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. In alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to expand employment and capacity development, NCDMB’s latest initiative is a bold step toward preparing Nigerians for direct involvement in upcoming energy projects.
About the Program
The NCDMB Field Training Program 2025 is part of the Board’s effort to build a sustainable and competitive local workforce. It will provide hands-on training, practical exposure, and globally recognized certification in high-demand technical disciplines across the oil and gas value chain.
As Nigeria records new Final Investment Decisions (FIDs) and multi-billion-dollar projects, this program ensures that local talent is ready to take center stage in driving the country’s energy transformation.
Program Objectives
The key goals of the initiative are to:
- Close the skill gap in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
- Prepare young Nigerians for direct employment in major oil and gas projects.
- Ensure first consideration for Nigerians in training and employment, in line with Section 10(1b) of the NOGICD Act, 2010.
Top 10 Skill Areas Covered
Participants will receive training in 10 specialized, high-demand areas, including:
- Sub-Sea Engineering (Wellheads, flowlines, umbilicals, sub-sea trees)
- Underwater Welding Engineering
- Control & Automation Engineering (Cementing, well controls, rig operations)
- Helicopter Piloting
- Marine Operations (Seamen, vessel mechanics, electricians)
- Production & Maintenance Engineering (Control room operations, maintenance crew)
- QA/QC Engineering (Non-Destructive Testing Levels 1–3)
- Geoscience Engineering (Seismic, Geophysics, Wellsite Geology)
- Digitization & Digitalization (AI, ML, IoT, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Drones)
- Drilling Engineering
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be citizens under 35 years of age.
- Hold OND, HND, or B.Sc. in relevant fields such as:
- Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Gas, Welding, or Metallurgy Engineering.
- Geology, Geophysics, Computer Science/Engineering, or other science-related disciplines.
- Choose up to three (3) preferred skill areas in order of priority.
Program Duration
The training program will run for 2 to 3 years, during which NCDMB will continuously assess industry needs and adjust skill focus areas accordingly.
