In Tanzania, MSF is currently recruiting for two important full-time positions based in Dar es Salaam.

1. COOK – MSF Tanzania

Position Title: Cook
Organization: Médecins Sans Frontières
Location: Dar es Salaam

Reports To: HR Assistant

Job Overview

The Cook will be responsible for preparing meals for MSF staff and patients while strictly following hygiene, safety, and nutrition standards. The role ensures timely meal preparation and proper food management in support of MSF operations.

Main Purpose

To prepare nutritious meals for patients and staff according to MSF hygiene and safety standards, ensuring consistent meal quality and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily meals for staff according to MSF standards
  • Maintain strict hygiene and food safety practices
  • Monitor food stock and prepare shopping lists as needed
  • Ensure meals are served on time
  • Set up and clean dining areas before and after meals
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, utensils, and equipment
  • Ensure safe drinking water availability where applicable
  • Manage kitchen inventory and report losses or damages
  • Support proper handling and maintenance of kitchen equipment

Requirements

  • Basic literacy (cooking training is an advantage)
  • Previous cooking experience preferred
  • Good command of Kiswahili (required) and English (desirable)
  • Commitment, flexibility, stress management, teamwork, and service orientation

2. STOREKEEPER (POOL POSITION) – MSF Tanzania

Position Title: Storekeeper (Pool Position)
Organization: Médecins Sans Frontières
Location: Dar es Salaam
Employment Type: Full Time
Reports To: Warehouse Manager

Job Overview

The Storekeeper will manage MSF warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and dispatching medical, food, and logistics supplies while ensuring compliance with MSF standards.

Main Purpose

To ensure efficient stock management and proper storage, handling, and distribution of MSF supplies to support ongoing humanitarian operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, store, and dispatch supplies according to MSF procedures
  • Maintain clean and organized warehouse conditions
  • Ensure accurate documentation and stock records
  • Label, pack, and prepare goods for transport safely
  • Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and cold chain requirements
  • Supervise daily warehouse workers
  • Conduct physical stock checks and reporting
  • Ensure warehouse security and report losses or damages
  • Follow MSF SOPs and logistics guidelines

Requirements

  • Basic literacy and secondary education
  • Diploma/certificate in logistics, procurement, or supply chain is an advantage
  • Previous storekeeping experience preferred
  • Fluent Kiswahili and English (written and spoken)
  • Strong teamwork, organization, stress management, and commitment to MSF principles
