We currently have two exciting job vacancies: Software Developer Engineer and Enterprise Integration Engineer. Both positions offer an opportunity to work in a forward-thinking environment where technology, creativity, and problem-solving converge to deliver cutting-edge banking solutions.
1. Software Developer Engineer
As a Software Developer Engineer at Maendeleo Bank Plc, you will play a key role in designing and building scalable, secure, and reliable applications that drive our banking operations and customer experiences. You will collaborate with product owners, designers, and fellow engineers to transform business requirements into robust technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop modern, maintainable, and efficient software applications.
- Translate business needs into system designs and technical solutions.
- Build and maintain microservices architecture.
- Ensure applications are secure, scalable, and maintain high performance.
Technical Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot to enhance productivity while maintaining code quality.
- Experience with web and mobile frameworks, including Laravel, Next.js, Vue.js, React, React Native, Swift, and Kotlin.
- Hands-on experience with containerization and deployment using Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Apache, and Nginx.
- Strong database skills with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MariaDB, MongoDB, and Redis.
- Experience integrating applications with monitoring and APM solutions such as ELK, Prometheus, and Grafana.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional software development experience.
- Experience building secure, scalable enterprise applications.
- Experience in banking or other regulated industries is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving and system design skills, coupled with a positive and collaborative attitude.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies.
2. Enterprise Integration Engineer
The Enterprise Integration Engineer will focus on integrating the bank’s core systems with external and internal applications, ensuring seamless connectivity across our digital banking platforms. This role is critical for maintaining reliable, secure, and high-performing integrations that support the bank’s operations and customer services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement integration architecture standards and API governance frameworks.
- Integrate core banking systems with mobile banking, internet banking, USSD platforms, agency banking, and payment gateways.
- Ensure all integrations are secure, scalable, and highly reliable.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth delivery.
Technical Skills and Experience:
- Expertise with AI development tools like OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot.
- Proficiency with API gateways and middleware solutions such as WSO2 and Apache APISIX.
- Strong development experience in frameworks such as Spring Boot, FastAPI, and Laravel.
- Experience with integration tools and messaging systems including Apache Camel, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.
- Solid database knowledge: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis.
- Deployment experience using Docker Swarm, Nginx, Apache, and Tomcat.
- Familiarity with ISO 20022 and ISO 8583 financial messaging standards is advantageous.
- Understanding of security and compliance standards such as ITIL, PCI DSS, IAM, SSL/TLS, and MFA.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial services or mission-critical environments.
- Proven track record in leading integration projects or technical teams.
- Strong system design and problem-solving abilities with a collaborative mindset.
- Readiness to continuously learn and adapt in a rapidly evolving technical landscape.
