The Executive Director of the Itilima District Council has officially announced new employment opportunities for qualified Tanzanians. The announcement comes after receiving approval from the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance to recruit new staff, Itilima District Council 18 Vacancies March 2026.

In total, eighteen (18) job positions are available within the council across several administrative and operational roles. The recruitment aims to strengthen service delivery and improve the efficiency of public services within the district. Below is an overview of the available positions, their responsibilities, and qualifications.

1. Driver II – 5 Positions

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be responsible for supporting transportation and logistical services within the council. Major duties include:

  • Inspecting the vehicle before and after trips to ensure safety and proper functioning.
  • Transporting staff to various locations during official duties.
  • Performing minor vehicle maintenance when necessary.
  • Collecting and delivering official documents.
  • Recording all travel information in the vehicle logbook.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.
  • Carrying out any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV).
  • Possession of a valid driving license Class C or E.
  • At least one year of driving experience without causing accidents.
  • Must have completed a Basic Driving Course from VETA or another government-recognized institution.

Salary Scale: TGS B

2. Records Assistant Grade II – 4 Positions

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will support records management and document handling within the council offices. Responsibilities include:

  • Registering incoming correspondence in the appropriate registers.
  • Recording outgoing letters and official communications.
  • Distributing and collecting files from action officers.
  • Returning files to cabinets or storage locations.
  • Monitoring the movement of files within the institution.
  • Classifying and organizing documents according to subject categories.
  • Arranging files in cabinets and storage racks.
  • Filing official documents such as letters and records.
  • Performing other duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Form IV or Form VI education.
  • A Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Records Management or related field from a government-recognized institution.

Salary Scale: TGS C

3. Office Management Secretary Grade II – 9 Positions

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates will provide administrative and secretarial support to departments within the council. Responsibilities include:

  • Typing letters, reports, and confidential documents.
  • Receiving visitors and directing them appropriately.
  • Maintaining records of appointments, meetings, and official travel schedules.
  • Retrieving files and documents required for official duties.
  • Distributing files within departments or units.
  • Managing file storage and returning documents to appropriate locations.
  • Preparing meeting notes and assisting in meeting arrangements.
  • Preparing lists of office equipment and supply requirements.
  • Carrying out additional duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Form IV or Form VI education.
  • A Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Secretarial Studies.
  • Proficiency in Kiswahili and English typing (100 words per minute).
  • Computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Internet, and Email from a recognized institution.

Salary Scale: TGS C

General Application Requirements

All applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Must be a Tanzanian citizen aged between 18 and 45 years.

  • Public servants already employed in entry-level positions should not apply.

  • Testimonials, provisional results, and result slips will not be accepted.
  • Retired public servants are not eligible to apply unless they have permission from the Chief Secretary.
