Available Internship Opportunities

1. Accounting & Administration Intern

Department: Finance & Administration
Duty Station: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Duration: 12 months
Position Type: Internship

The Accounting & Administration Intern will support the Finance and Administration functions of AmCham Tanzania. The intern will gain practical experience in accounting, financial documentation, administrative coordination, procurement, membership administration, records management, and general office operations.

Key responsibilities

The intern will assist with recording financial transactions, organizing invoices and receipts, maintaining financial records, supporting petty cash management, and assisting with bank and cash reconciliations.

The position will also involve supporting expense tracking, preparing financial schedules and routine reports, monitoring expenditure against approved budgets, and organizing documents required for audits.

On the administration side, the intern will help maintain physical and electronic records, prepare correspondence and reports, coordinate meetings, support travel and logistical arrangements, monitor office supplies, and maintain equipment and inventory records.

The intern will also support membership administration, including maintaining membership databases, assisting with member registration and renewals, tracking membership payments, preparing membership reports, and communicating with members regarding relevant activities.

In procurement, the intern will assist with obtaining supplier quotations, organizing procurement documentation, maintaining supplier records, and supporting the procurement filing system.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Recent graduate status from a recognized academic institution.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with accounting software is an added advantage.

2. Communications & Events Coordination Intern

Department: Communications & Events
Duty Station: Tanzania
Duration: 12 months
Position Type: Internship

The Communications & Events Coordination Intern will support AmCham Tanzania’s communications and events activities. The role provides practical exposure to content development, digital communications, event planning, stakeholder coordination, logistics, documentation, and reporting.

Key responsibilities

  • The intern will assist in preparing social media content, newsletters, announcements, briefs, presentations, reports, and other communications materials.
  • Responsibilities will also include maintaining content calendars, collecting stories and updates from organizational activities, proofreading communications, maintaining digital archives, supporting digital platform updates, and monitoring relevant media and digital channels.
  • For events, the intern will support the planning and coordination of meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences, networking events, and other activities. This may include preparing invitations, agendas, registration forms, participant lists, event materials, and schedules.
  • The intern will also assist with venue, catering, equipment, transport, accommodation, and other logistical arrangements. They may coordinate with suppliers and service providers, support participant registration, communicate with speakers and stakeholders, and provide on-site support during events.
  • After events, the intern will assist with documentation, participant feedback, attendance records, event reports, activity summaries, follow-up actions, and maintaining organized event files.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Events Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Recent graduate status or be currently pursuing a relevant qualification.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Kiswahili is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with social media and digital communication platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design or content creation tools is an added advantage.
  • Experience in event coordination, volunteering, student leadership, or similar activities is an advantage.
