The Institution of Engineers Tanzania (IET) is a registered non-profit professional organization established to promote engineering excellence in Tanzania.
The institution is a member of several international engineering organizations, including:
- World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO)
- Commonwealth Engineers Council (CEC)
- Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO)
As part of strengthening its operations, IET is recruiting competent professionals to support its mission of building engineering capacity and addressing the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Available Position
- Position: Deputy Executive Director (Capacity Building)
- Number of Posts: 1
- Reports To: Executive Director
- Appointing Authority: Council/Executive Committee
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Heading the Education and Professional Development Department.
- Assisting in the development and coordination of professional engineering courses.
- Initiating and organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, fellowships, and other professional development activities.
- Ensuring timely publication of the institution’s newsletters, journals, and other publications.
- Managing the institution’s library services, including publication and sale of books and educational materials.
- Following up on membership subscriptions and donations to ensure timely collection.
- Serving as Secretary to the Capacity Building Committee.
- Serving as Secretary to the Activities, Seminars and Conferences Committee.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the employer.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- A university degree in Engineering (any discipline).
- Good understanding of the engineering profession in Tanzania.
- Membership with the Institution of Engineers Tanzania (IET).
- Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Energetic, dynamic, and self-motivated personality.
- At least three (3) years of engineering work experience.
- Experience in similar responsibilities will be an added advantage.
Employment Terms
The successful candidate will receive:
- Two-year renewable employment contract.
- Twenty-eight (28) days annual leave per calendar year.
- Negotiable salary.
- Performance-based bonus generated from personal efforts and net income.
