Graduate Engineer – UG Drill and Blast
Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita, Tanzania
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Objective
The Graduate Engineer will support underground drill and blast operations by assisting with planning, reporting, safety compliance, quality assurance, and technical activities while gaining practical experience in underground mining engineering.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting with daily drill and blast reports, schedules, and production plans.
- Participating in weekly and monthly explosive store inspections.
- Preparing charging plans for blasting operations.
- Developing drill designs.
- Assisting in the preparation of drill and blast stope notes.
- Performing general administrative duties and participating in site audits.
- Reporting safety matters relating to underground drill and blast operations.
- Ensuring statutory safety and environmental reporting requirements are met.
- Monitoring Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities.
- Capturing and maintaining underground drill and blast data.
- Following all company health and safety policies.
- Complying with environmental management standards.
- Assisting the Senior Engineer with monthly underground drill and blast reports.
- Participating in electronic blasting preparation.
Qualifications Required
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Mining Engineering.
- Valid Driving Licence.
- Valid Blasting Certificate.
Experience Required
Candidates should have:
- At least one (1) year of experience in underground drill and blast operations.
- Experience working in a mechanized underground mine.
- Experience managing teams to achieve operational objectives.
Knowledge and Skills
