The Direct Transport Sales Team Lead will support the Area DTS Manager in setting the direction for the local team while ensuring disciplined sales execution. The role focuses on strengthening customer relationships, maintaining strong pipeline management, and aligning customer needs with Maersk’s integrated logistics and shipping services.
Through strong leadership and operational coordination, the successful candidate will help improve supply chain efficiency for clients while driving revenue growth within the Tanzanian market.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Direction
- Support the DTS Manager in implementing the area sales strategy across the country.
- Provide daily leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the sales team.
- Identify skills gaps and create development plans to strengthen team capabilities.
- Promote collaboration and a strong team culture across local and regional teams.
- Drive improvements in pipeline management, customer engagement, and target achievement.
2. Commercial Execution & Pipeline Management
- Take ownership of the team’s sales pipeline and monitor opportunity progress.
- Ensure strategic sales planning to consistently meet or exceed targets.
- Drive new business development through New Store Sales initiatives.
- Lead follow-ups on sales opportunities and track win/loss outcomes to refine strategy.
3. Customer Leadership
- Maintain a strong customer-centric approach in all interactions and negotiations.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Develop a deep understanding of the local customer landscape and logistics needs.
- Ensure excellent customer experience across all service interactions.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with internal departments including Product, Operations, Procurement, Finance, and Customer Experience (CX) teams.
- Translate customer requirements into practical and deliverable logistics solutions.
- Ensure smooth service delivery across the organization.
5. Performance Management & Governance
- Maintain high-quality CRM data and accurate reporting.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and operational protocols.
- Monitor team performance and enforce disciplined sales processes.
Qualifications and Experience
Maersk is looking for a results-driven professional with strong leadership and commercial capabilities.
Requirements include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in B2B logistics or transportation sales.
- Proven team leadership and coaching experience.
- Strong ability to convert leads into sustainable business opportunities.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and data-driven sales management.
