CRDB Bank Foundation is seeking an experienced and independent professional to serve as an Independent Non-Executive Director. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in accounting and/or auditing and contribute to the Foundation’s financial oversight, governance, assurance, and strategic direction.

About the Role

The Independent Non-Executive Director will provide independent oversight and strategic guidance to the Foundation. The position will play an important role in strengthening financial stewardship, risk management, governance, programme effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.

The successful candidate is expected to exercise independent judgment, provide constructive challenge to management, and contribute actively to Board and Committee deliberations.

Key Responsibilities

The Independent Non-Executive Director will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic guidance and oversight to the Foundation.
  • Participating in the approval and monitoring of the Foundation’s strategy, policies, and budgets.
  • Overseeing financial stewardship, risk management, and governance practices.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness and impact of Foundation programmes.
  • Actively participating in Board and Committee meetings.
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement and resource mobilization initiatives.
  • Providing independent judgment and constructive challenge to management.
  • Guiding long-term strategy and programme scaling.
  • Supporting efforts to diversify funding sources and strengthen the Foundation’s sustainability.
  • Contributing financial, governance, and assurance expertise to Board discussions.
  • Supporting accountability and sound decision-making across the Foundation.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Commerce, Banking, or Business Administration with a major in Finance, Accounting, or Auditing.
  • Professional certification such as CPA(T), ACCA, CIMA, CIA, or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 5 years of senior-level experience in finance, accounting, auditing, banking, governance, risk management, development finance, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate and NGO governance.
  • Good understanding of fiduciary responsibilities and Tanzanian regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in risk management, internal controls, and compliance.
  • Experience working with foundations, NGOs, financial institutions, development finance institutions, or social investment organizations.
  • Strong strategic thinking and independent decision-making abilities.
  • Experience engaging government ministries, development partners, private-sector organizations, and international organizations.
  • Ability to support sustainable socio-economic development and impact-driven programmes.
