Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading the end-to-end production of BBC Swahili’s visual podcast published five times per week.
- Developing the editorial identity, visual style, and storytelling approach of the podcast.
- Managing the complete production workflow from planning to publication.
- Leading livestream coverage of major news events across YouTube and other digital platforms.
- Producing engaging live programmes with audience interaction, expert interviews, and breaking news updates.
- Maintaining BBC editorial standards across all visual podcast and livestream content.
- Working closely with editorial teams to integrate podcast and livestream content into BBC Swahili’s wider news coverage.
- Supporting innovation in digital storytelling and audience engagement.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Extensive experience producing, directing, and editing professional video content.
- Strong skills in filming, lighting, audio production, post-production editing, and graphics.
- Experience planning and managing live digital broadcasts.
- Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent.
- Experience using livestreaming tools including YouTube Studio, vMix, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of digital video optimization for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other social platforms.
- Experience leading or managing teams of video journalists or producers.
- Proven success in developing video strategies that drive audience growth.
- Excellent scripting, writing, and editing skills in both Swahili and English.
- Strong editorial judgment and commitment to high-quality journalism.
