Job Summary
The Dialysis Medical Doctor will provide clinical leadership within the dialysis unit and oversee the medical care of patients receiving dialysis treatment. Working closely with nephrologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the successful candidate will ensure safe, effective, and continuous care for patients with kidney disease.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing clinical leadership within the dialysis unit.
- Managing the medical care of dialysis patients.
- Conducting patient rounds before and after dialysis sessions.
- Assessing patients and managing dialysis-related complications.
- Prescribing and managing medications for dialysis patients.
- Educating and counselling patients and their families.
- Ensuring continuity of patient care.
- Responding to emergency calls and urgent patient assessments.
- Providing consultation services for renal patients in different hospital units.
- Maintaining accurate and complete patient medical records.
- Ensuring compliance with medical regulations and documentation requirements.
- Collaborating with nephrologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Supporting administrative responsibilities, including:
- Patient documentation
- NHIF forms
- Monthly clinical reports
- Participating in:
- Unit meetings
- Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions
- Hospital clinical activities
- Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, confidentiality requirements, and professional standards.
- Assisting with medical procedures and emergency patient care.
- Supporting nutritional assessments for dialysis patients.
- Assisting visiting healthcare professionals and promoting a positive clinical environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No direct reports.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from a recognized university.
- Registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
- A valid practicing license.
- Previous dialysis training is an added advantage but is not mandatory.
- Familiarity with healthcare quality and safety standards.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
