Data Analytics Engineer

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Mwanza, Tanzania (Remote work may be considered)
Reports To: Country Director, Tanzania

Job Summary

The successful candidate will support the development and optimization of Tunza Afya Chat, DMI’s WhatsApp-based digital health platform. The role focuses on chatbot architecture, data engineering, analytics, integration with Ministry of Health systems, and improving user engagement through data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and optimize chatbot workflows.
Design and maintain data pipelines using Google Cloud technologies.
Analyse chatbot usage data and monitor key performance indicators.
Develop dashboards and reports for programme monitoring.
Support integration with Ministry of Health digital platforms.
Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
Collaborate with DMI Tanzania and international technical teams.
Support future AI-enabled chatbot enhancements.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
Advanced certification in Data Engineering or Public Health Informatics is an advantage.
At least 4 years of practical experience in data engineering or digital health.
Strong skills in Python, SQL, Google BigQuery, Looker Studio, and chatbot technologies.
Excellent written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
