The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) has officially announced its 2026 Internship Program in Tanzania, offering exciting opportunities for university students to gain practical experience across multiple departments. This program is part of EACOP’s commitment to developing local talent and supporting socio-economic growth within the region.

About EACOP

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a major midstream infrastructure project spanning both Uganda and Tanzania. The project involves the construction of a 1,443 km thermally insulated crude oil pipeline, transporting oil from Kabaale in Hoima, Uganda to the Chongoleani Peninsula near Tanga Port in Tanzania for export to international markets. Once completed, EACOP will be one of the longest heated crude oil pipelines in the world, playing a significant role in the regional energy sector.

Internship Program Objective

The EACOP Internship Program aims to:

  • Provide hands-on industry experience to young professionals
  • Enhance technical, analytical, and professional skills
  • Promote local content development
  • Contribute to sustainable economic growth in East Africa

Internship Duration

  • Start Date: July 1, 2026
  • End Date: September 30, 2026

General Selection Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a current university student
  • Provide a university introduction letter and student ID
  • Have a minimum academic performance equivalent to an upper second degree
  • Be available full-time during the internship period
  • Possess strong communication, numeracy, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Submit a well-written application letter

Available Internship Positions (9 Slots)

EACOP is offering internship placements in the following departments:

1. Corporate Affairs (1 Position)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or a relevant master’s degree

3. Local Content (1 Position)

  • Degree in Law, Community Development, or related field
  • Strong skills in data management and Excel

4. Finance (1 Position)

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline

5. Projects – Project Controls (1 Position)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or Human Resource Management

6. HSE – Environment (1 Position)

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Management
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)

7. Field Operations Logistics (FOPS) (1 Position)

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Customs, or Warehouse Management

8. Social & Economic Investment (1 Position)

  • Degree in Business Administration, Sociology, Social Sciences, or Development Studies

9. Human Resources (1 Position)

  • Degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Responsibilities

EACOP places a strong emphasis on safety and environmental sustainability. Interns are expected to:

  • Comply with all H3SE policies and Life Saving Rules
  • Promote a safety-first culture in the workplace
  • Remain alert to potential hazards and unsafe conditions
  • Report HSE concerns to management
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
