About UNICEF
UNICEF operates in more than 190 countries and territories, working to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them reach their full potential—from early childhood through adolescence. The organization collaborates closely with governments, partners, and communities to strengthen systems that support children’s wellbeing, including health, nutrition, education, protection, and water and sanitation services.
At UNICEF, promoting the rights of every child is more than a profession—it is a mission. Staff members work in diverse teams and are offered opportunities for learning, professional development, and meaningful contributions to global development goals.
Internship Overview
This internship sits within UNICEF Tanzania’s Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Section, which works with the Government and partners to strengthen evidence-based programming across sectors such as health, nutrition, WASH, education, child protection, and emergency response.
With Tanzania experiencing rapid growth in digital connectivity—more than 30 million mobile phone users and increasing use of platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook—online spaces have become major channels where people exchange information, form opinions, and influence behaviour. UNICEF therefore uses social and community listening tools to monitor public sentiment, detect misinformation, and better understand community perspectives.
The internship will support these efforts by helping generate insights from digital platforms and community feedback systems, ensuring UNICEF programmes remain relevant and responsive.
