The Zanzibar National Association of the Blind (ZANAB) is a registered non-governmental organization operating in Zanzibar. The organization works to strengthen and empower blind and visually impaired individuals by improving their understanding of rights, needs, responsibilities, and entitlements. ZANAB achieves this through awareness raising, training, capacity building, and advocacy, Financial & Administration Assistant at ZANAB 2026.

Job Title: Financial and Administration Assistant
Number of Positions: 1
Duty Station: Zanzibar

Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial management
  • Proficiency in computer applications, especially accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and ability to maintain financial confidentiality
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Previous experience working with NGOs or Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) is an added advantage

Key Roles and Responsibilities

A) Financial Duties

The Financial and Administration Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in recording and managing all financial transactions of ZANAB
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records of income and expenditures
  • Supporting preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Monitoring payments, invoices, and financial claims
  • Assisting in budget preparation and expenditure tracking
  • Supporting audit processes according to donor and organizational requirements
  • Ensuring proper filing and safe custody of all financial documents
  • Performing other accounting duties assigned by the Chief Accountant or ZANAB management

B) Administration Duties

The candidate will also provide administrative support by:

  • Providing general administrative support to ZANAB office operations
  • Assisting in managing office records, correspondence, and documentation
  • Supporting coordination of meetings, schedules, and official communications
  • Maintaining proper filing systems for administrative and financial records
  • Assisting in procurement processes and management of office supplies
  • Supporting HR administrative tasks such as staff records and attendance
  • Performing other accounting and administrative duties assigned by the Chief Accountant or ZANAB management
