About TCAA
The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), established under Section 35 of the TCAA Act, Chapter 80 (R.E 2023), oversees and regulates all civil aviation activities in the country. Its key mandate is to ensure safe, reliable, and sustainable air transport services. The Authority manages and monitors aviation operations, aeronautical services, and air navigation systems to meet international standards.
The Minister for Transport, through the Permanent Secretary, now seeks applications from qualified individuals to fill two (2) vacant positions on the TCAA Board.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will join the Board in executing critical oversight and strategic functions, including:
- Setting the Authority’s strategic direction and vision.
- Monitoring and evaluating management performance and governance standards.
- Ensuring adequate resources are available for the Authority’s goals.
- Promoting public awareness and education about TCAA’s role and responsibilities.
- Reviewing and approving annual plans and budgets.
- Providing advice to the Minister for Transport on civil aviation policies and sector development.
- Ensuring compliance with the TCAA Act and international aviation standards.
- Performing any additional duties as assigned by the Minister.
Qualifications and Experience
To qualify for appointment as a TCAA Board Member, an applicant must:
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution.
- Have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in management, law, economics, finance, or engineering.
- Possess knowledge of the aviation industry or related sectors.
- Be free from any conflict of interest, as required by Section 37 of the TCAA Act.
- Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and commitment to effective service.
- Be willing to actively participate in Board meetings and decision-making.
