The Royal Danish Embassy in Dar es Salaam is inviting qualified candidates to apply for two Programme Officer positions to support Denmark’s development cooperation initiatives in Tanzania. The Embassy is recruiting professionals to support the Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) feasibility phase in two key areas: Health and Revenue Collection/Tax. Successful candidates will work closely with Tanzanian and Danish institutions to strengthen cooperation and knowledge exchange.

Two Programme Officer positions are available:

  1. Strategic Sector Cooperation Programme Officer – Health
  2. Strategic Sector Cooperation Programme Officer – Revenue Collection/Tax

About the Strategic Sector Cooperation Programme

Denmark has implemented Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) initiatives globally for over a decade. These projects aim to build long-term partnerships between public institutions in Denmark and partner countries.

In Tanzania, the proposed SSC projects will focus on collaboration between:

  • Danish and Tanzanian Health Ministries
  • Danish and Tanzanian Tax Agencies

The goal is to establish government-to-government cooperation that promotes knowledge exchange, shared expertise, and stronger institutional partnerships in key strategic sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Officers will support the feasibility phase and planning of the cooperation projects. Main responsibilities include:

  • Analysing and reporting on political, social, and economic developments relevant to the sector
  • Organizing and participating in meetings with local and international stakeholders
  • Preparing visits by Danish delegations to Tanzania and Tanzanian delegations to Denmark
  • Supporting the Sector Counsellor in monitoring sector developments and stakeholders
  • Assisting Danish companies operating in Tanzania in collaboration with trade colleagues
  • Ensuring compliance with administrative procedures
  • Creating content for social media and public diplomacy activities
  • Representing Denmark in relevant coordination platforms and meetings

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Ability to handle logistical and practical tasks with attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office skills
  • Fluency in English

Desired Qualifications

Candidates with the following experience will have an advantage:

  • Previous experience in relevant policy areas such as government institutions, research organizations, think tanks, or development agencies
