The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for the Graduate Internship Programme 2027–2029. A total of 29 internship opportunities are available across Finance, Human Resources, Law, Risk Management, Public Administration, Business Administration and related fields.
OCJ Graduate Internship Programme 2027–2029
The programme will run for 24 months, from 01 April 2027 to 31 March 2029. Successful applicants will gain practical workplace experience within the Office of the Chief Justice, courts and provincial service centres. Internship stipend: R8,174.75 per month, Application closing date: 28 September 2026, Internship locations include Midrand, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Free State, Mpumalanga and Northern Cape.

General requirements
Applicants must be South African citizens, unemployed graduates and must not have previously participated in an internship programme. Most opportunities require Grade 12 together with a relevant three-year National Diploma at NQF Level 6 with 360 credits recognised by SAQA. The legal internship opportunities require an LLB Degree at NQF Level 8 with 480 credits.
Applicants with foreign qualifications must have their qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Preference will be given to persons with disabilities in line with the Employment Equity objectives.
Documents required
Applicants must submit:
- A correctly completed and signed new Z83 Application for Employment form.
- A recently updated CV.
Certified copies are not required at the initial application stage. Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide certified copies of their Matric certificate, academic transcripts, qualifications, academic record and identity document. Applications submitted using the old Z83 form will not be considered.
Assessment and selection
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete a pre-entry practical exercise as part of the assessment process. Applicants must also be available for assessments and selection interviews at the date, time and venue determined by the Office of the Chief Justice. All internship appointments are subject to verification and pre-screening processes.
Applying outside your province
Applicants may apply for internship opportunities outside their residential area. However, applicants who accept an opportunity outside their province must arrange and pay for their own accommodation and transportation. The Office of the Chief Justice will not provide accommodation based on the information supplied in the advert.
