NAFGEM Tanzania is inviting qualified and motivated professionals to apply for three (3) MNCH and Nutrition Regional Officer positions under the ACHIEVE Tanzania Project. MNCH & Nutrition Regional Officers (3 Positions) at NAFGEM Tanzania February 2026, These opportunities are available in Lindi, Kilimanjaro, and Manyara, with one officer required in each region.

Organization Overview

NAFGEM Tanzania is a national non-governmental organization registered to operate in Tanzania Mainland since 1999. The organization holds a Certificate of Compliance under the NGO Act of 2002, valid until 2033, with registration number 00NGO/R1/00192.

NAFGEM’s vision is to foster a society that values and protects the human rights of women, youth, and children. Since its establishment, the organization has been implementing programs in marginalized communities to improve health and well-being, and eliminate harmful practices such as:

  • Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
  • Child marriage
  • Gender-based violence (GBV)

Project Overview: ACHIEVE Tanzania

NAFGEM, as a sub-awardee to Pact, is implementing the Adolescent and Children HIV Incidence Reduction, Empowerment, and Virus Elimination (ACHIEVE) project. The overall goal of ACHIEVE is to attain and sustain HIV epidemic control among:

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding women
  • Adolescents
  • Infants and children

The project has recently expanded to include a Maternal, Newborn, Child Health, and Nutrition (MNCHN) intervention, which will be implemented in six councils across:

  • Kilimanjaro Region
  • Manyara Region
  • Lindi Region

This MNCHN intervention aims to strengthen maternal and child health outcomes by:

  • Building the capacity of healthcare workers to provide comprehensive MNCH services
  • Enhancing selected CEmONC facilities through procurement of essential medical equipment
  • Strengthening nutrition assessment, counselling, and management of malnutrition among children under five

Job Title: MNCH and Nutrition Regional Officers (3 Positions)

Available Regions (1 Position Each):

  • Lindi
  • Kilimanjaro
  • Manyara

Contract Duration: 6 months (March – August 2026)
Reporting to: Executive Director

Position Purpose

The MNCH and Nutrition Regional Officers will coordinate, implement, and monitor MNCH and Nutrition interventions within their assigned regions and councils.

The role ensures quality program delivery through strong collaboration with:

  • Regional and Council Health Management Teams (R/CHMTs)
  • Health facilities
  • Implementing partners
  • Other key stakeholders

The officer will also ensure compliance with national guidelines, support capacity building, and promote effective use of routine data for decision-making.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The MNCH and Nutrition Regional Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

1. Technical Support and Quality Assurance

  • Provide technical advice, direction, and quality assurance for MNCH and nutrition activities.
  • Ensure all interventions align with national standards, guidelines, and protocols.

2. Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, implementing partners, and regional teams to ensure smooth delivery of activities.
  • Participate and represent ACHIEVE in regional and council coordination forums.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with R/CHMTs and other MNCH and nutrition stakeholders.

3. Capacity Building and Mentorship

  • Support government Master Trainers in training Facility Champions, with guidance from the MNCH and Nutrition Coordinator.
  • Monitor coaching and mentoring activities carried out by Facility Champions.
  • Provide supportive supervision and mentorship to health providers at facility and community levels.

4. Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation

  • Monitor implementation progress to ensure objectives and targets are achieved on time.
  • Contribute to quarterly/annual reports, evaluations, work plan updates, and other project deliverables.
  • Document technical achievements, lessons learned, best practices, and innovative models.

5. Data Review and Performance Tracking

  • Lead routine review of MNCH and nutrition data from facilities (DHIS2/HMIS, nutrition registers, etc.).
  • Conduct data quality checks on completeness, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance summaries highlighting trends, gaps, and priority actions.
  • Support identification of underperforming indicators such as:
    • ANC attendance
    • Facility delivery rates
    • Child growth monitoring
    • SAM referrals
  • Recommend corrective actions and support councils to close performance gaps.

6. Other Duties

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Diploma in Medicine, Nursing, or Midwifery with at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage

Additional Qualifications

The ideal candidate should also have:

  • Experience in MNCH and nutrition programming
  • Demonstrated experience working with regional and council MNCH and nutrition structures
  • Work experience in at least one technical area such as:
    • Maternal health
    • Child health
    • Nutrition
    • Other health-related fields
  • Experience working with USG-funded projects in Tanzania
  • Experience supporting donor-funded programs requiring facility and/or community-level engagement
  • Strong training facilitation and delivery skills
  • Fluency in both English and Kiswahili (written and spoken)
