Mbalizi–Ifisi Hospital, located about 20 kilometres west of Mbeya City along the Tunduma–Zambia highway, just outside the small town of Mbalizi in Ikumbi Ifisi village, has officially announced new employment opportunities for qualified Tanzanians. The hospital has received an employment permit from the Secretary General of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) through Ref. No. MH/GC/TEC/01/2025 to recruit competent personnel to serve under the church. These positions are replacement posts for employees who have left service.
The management aims to ensure that all successful applicants meet the required professional standards and qualifications as outlined for each position.
Available Positions
1. Medical Doctor II – (3 Posts)
Qualifications
- Holder of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from a government-recognised institution.
- Must have completed a one-year internship.
- Must be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika and possess a valid practising licence.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide medical services covering paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, and both routine and emergency surgery.
- Deliver and supervise community health education and public health promotion.
- Detect, monitor, and control disease outbreaks.
- Maintain and utilise health statistics according to MTUHA guidelines.
- Plan, monitor, and evaluate health services in the assigned area.
- Train students and mentor junior staff.
- Supervise staff working under them.
- Conduct research and disseminate findings.
- Prepare departmental plans and budget estimates.
- Participate in medical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide outreach services within the district or region.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Salary Scale: TGHS E.
2. Specialist in General Surgery – (1 Post)
Qualifications
- Master of Medicine (M.Med) in General Surgery (minimum three years) from a recognised university.
- Registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine and diagnose patients requiring surgical intervention.
- Decide on the appropriate surgical procedures and prepare patients for operations.
- Perform surgeries with professionalism and precision.
- Lead the theatre team and coordinate surgical ward services.
- Prepare surgical schedules and patient lists.
- Monitor post-operative recovery and prevent complications.
- Provide counselling to patients and relatives on wound care and lifestyle changes.
- Work closely with anaesthetists, nurses, and other doctors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary: Above government scale (higher than TGHS G).
3. Specialist in Internal Medicine (Physician) – (1 Post)
Qualifications
- Master of Medicine (M.Med) in Internal Medicine from a recognised institution.
- Registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
Duties
- Diagnose and treat adult patients with internal organ diseases such as heart, lung, kidney, liver, and gastrointestinal conditions without surgery.
- Manage chronic disease clinics and inpatient medical wards, including ICU.
- Provide preventive healthcare and lifestyle counselling.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment where necessary.
- Coordinate referrals to specialised care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary: Above government scale (higher than TGHS G).
4. Accountant II – (1 Post)
Qualifications
- Form IV or VI certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business from a recognised institution.
- CPA (T) certified and recognised by NBAA.
- At least four years of work experience in the private sector, NGOs, or institutions.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Pastel, or similar systems.
- Must be a Tanzanian with a NIDA identification number.
Responsibilities
- Manage institutional income and expenditure and prepare financial reports.
- Authorise payments in line with financial regulations.
- Oversee payroll preparation.
- Prepare annual budgets and cash flow statements.
- Conduct internal financial audits.
- Perform bank reconciliations and verify payment documents.
- Advise management on financial laws and regulations.
- Manage all revenue sources and ensure compliance with procedures.
- Perform other professional duties as assigned.
Salary: Above government scale (higher than TGS E).
