Position Details

Contract Information

  • Contract Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Contract Duration: 12-month fixed-term contract
  • Target Hiring Salary: TZS 2,613,173 per month (before taxes)
  • Target Start Date: 1st April 2026

Role Purpose

The Finance Coordinator supports project implementation by managing financial transactions, budgeting, reporting, bank reconciliations, filing, partner financial monitoring, and preparation of financial reports. The role strengthens financial control at field level while ensuring full compliance with donor requirements and Right To Play financial policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

A. Financial Accounting and Administration (65%)

The Finance Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring strong day-to-day financial management at the field office. Key tasks include:

  • Ensuring all payment documents are complete, properly supported, reviewed, and approved before processing
  • Verifying cheque requests, PRFs, activity concept notes, and other relevant documents
  • Reviewing Field Activity Financial Reports for correct coding, accuracy, documentation, and authorization
  • Working with the project team to prepare monthly projections based on approved workplans and budgets
  • Preparing monthly fund requests to ensure the field office has adequate cash flow
  • Posting weekly payment vouchers and journal vouchers into the accounting system
  • Producing monthly bank reconciliations and following up on all processed transactions
  • Ensuring staff and vendor balances are reconciled and up to date
  • Reviewing monthly fuel analysis reports and ensuring timely payments
  • Maintaining an up-to-date Fixed Asset Register and inventory list
  • Ensuring compliance with local government tax regulations and legal financial obligations
  • Supporting internal and external audits by organizing all required supporting documents
  • Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and prepayments
  • Ensuring monthly financial vouchers are sent to the Country Office for filing with complete supporting documentation

B. Grant Budgeting, Reporting and Compliance (30%)

This role also supports donor-funded project implementation by ensuring grant compliance and proper budget management:

  • Supporting project staff in developing grant-specific budgets
  • Monitoring project expenditure to ensure spending remains within budget
  • Promoting compliance with donor regulations and Right To Play policies
  • Conducting occasional field trips to monitor finance procedures and partner compliance
  • Supporting procurement verification by checking bids and tender documentation
  • Ensuring procurement processes follow organizational policies
  • Supporting preparation and regular updating of the annual project Procurement Plan
  • Facilitating project financial close-out, ensuring reporting and documentation requirements are met

C. Team Support (5%)

  • Providing support to other team members when required
  • Offering guidance to staff, partners, and beneficiaries on reporting and financial documentation standards

Scope and Impact

The Finance Coordinator plays an important role in supporting the Finance Manager to ensure smooth running of the field finance department. The position helps strengthen collaboration between the finance and program teams and ensures financial matters are addressed effectively at field level.

Leadership and Staff Management

This role does not include direct supervisory responsibilities. However, the Finance Coordinator provides guidance to staff and partners regarding Right To Play financial requirements, reporting expectations, and supporting documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Tax, or a related field
  • CPA qualification is an added advantage

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting, finance, grant management, or tax
  • Experience working with an INGO is an added advantage

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong documentation and filing skills
  • Ability to use accounting and financial software
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles, policies, and procedures
