The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has announced that the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, through the EGY-AID Initiative and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Scholarships, is inviting qualified Tanzanian students to apply for fully funded undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The scholarships provide an excellent opportunity for Tanzanian students to pursue higher education at Egyptian universities with comprehensive financial support.

General Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a citizen of Tanzania.
- Must be a Muslim.
- Must not be receiving another scholarship in Egypt or any other country.
- Must be medically fit and free from contagious diseases, supported by an approved medical certificate.
- Must be physically and psychologically healthy.
Additional Conditions
- All submitted documents must be officially certified and bear the required seals from the relevant authorities and the Egyptian Embassy.
- Documents must be in Arabic, English, or French, or accompanied by a certified translation into one of these languages.
- The applicant’s name must appear exactly the same on all submitted documents.
Important Notes
- Al-Azhar scholarship programs are primarily taught in Arabic. Students choosing English or French programs will be responsible for any additional study costs.
- Students are responsible for any expenses arising from changes or cancellation of travel dates.
- If a scholarship is terminated, the student will be responsible for the cost of returning home.
- All scholarship application documents must ultimately be submitted in Arabic.
Required Documents
Applicants should prepare the following certified documents:
- Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) or equivalent.
- Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) or equivalent.
- University degree certificate(s) and academic transcripts (for postgraduate applicants).
- Birth certificate.
- Valid passport copy.
- Six recent passport-size photographs with the applicant’s name written on the back.
- Medical certificate confirming freedom from infectious diseases, including HIV, Hepatitis, and Tuberculosis.
- Official statement confirming that the applicant’s secondary education qualification allows admission to university in the country where it was obtained.

Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
- Full tuition fee coverage.
- Monthly living allowance (stipend).
- Additional allowance for books and thesis printing (Master’s and PhD students).
- Return air ticket after successful completion of studies.
- Medical treatment at university and government hospitals in Egypt.
