Restless Development is a non-profit organization registered in Tanzania, with a presence across 21 regions. Established in 1993, the organization works to address socio-economic challenges by harnessing the power of youth leadership to drive meaningful change in communities. Its head office is located in Iringa (Wilolesi Street, P.O. Box 737), with additional offices in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma.

The Board Director Role

Restless Development Tanzania is seeking experienced professionals to serve as voluntary Members of the Board of Directors. Board Directors play a crucial role in providing:

  • Strategic oversight and governance
  • Advisory support to strengthen leadership and accountability
  • Guidance to promote sustainable growth and impactful youth-led initiatives

This role is ideal for individuals with expertise in areas such as governance, finance, strategy, fundraising, private sector engagement, or digital transformation.

Areas of Expertise Sought

The organization is particularly interested in candidates with professional experience in one or more of the following areas:

1. Governance and Compliance

  • Provide strategic oversight on governance and regulatory compliance
  • Review organizational policies, contracts, and MoUs periodically
  • Oversee legal risk management and ensure adherence to Tanzanian laws and donor requirements

2. Finance and Audit

  • Supervise budgets, financial reports, and internal controls
  • Oversee audits, review findings, and monitor implementation of agreed actions
  • Advise on financial risk management and organizational sustainability
  • CPA qualification is an added advantage

3. Strategy, Quality & Learning

  • Offer strategic input on program design, implementation, and quality assurance
  • Strengthen monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) processes
  • Advise on program risk management, safeguarding, and alignment with organizational strategy

4. Fundraising & Sustainability

  • Support fundraising strategy and donor relationship management
  • Identify new funding opportunities, including institutional donors and corporate partnerships
  • Provide guidance on proposal development and long-term growth planning

5. Private Sector Engagement

  • Advise on building strategic partnerships with businesses and industry networks
  • Support shared-value collaborations, such as CSR initiatives, youth employment, and entrepreneurship programs
  • Provide market insight to strengthen youth economic empowerment

6. Digital Transformation

  • Guide digital strategy to enhance program reach and operational efficiency
  • Advise on innovation, data governance, cybersecurity, and digital engagement
  • Strengthen youth-focused communication and learning approaches

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Board meetings may be held in-person or virtually, depending on organizational needs. Board Members serve voluntarily without remuneration, though reasonable pre-approved expenses incurred during official duties may be reimbursed in line with organizational policies.
