Advent Construction Ltd is inviting qualified and experienced professionals to apply for the position of Head Surveyor for a high-profile mining construction project based in Mwanza. This is a full-time, project-based opportunity designed for a seasoned surveyor ready to lead complex field operations and contribute to large-scale infrastructure development.
About the Role
The Head Surveyor will play a critical leadership role in managing all surveying activities on-site. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing mapping, measurements, and site layouts while ensuring accuracy and alignment with engineering and construction objectives. This position is ideal for professionals with strong technical expertise and leadership experience in mining or large construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the surveying team, including junior surveyors and technicians, ensuring efficiency and professional growth.
- Technical Surveys: Conduct and oversee topographic, geodetic, and engineering surveys tailored to mining infrastructure requirements.
- Site Planning: Develop and validate precise site layouts, maps, and construction plans to support project execution.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and contractors to deliver accurate data for all construction phases.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and use of modern surveying tools such as GPS and Total Stations.
- Compliance: Maintain adherence to safety regulations, project specifications, and industry standards throughout all surveying operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7–10 years of professional surveying experience
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Proven track record in mining or large-scale construction projects
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in modern surveying equipment and GIS software
- Core Competencies: Strong leadership, analytical thinking, organization, and effective communication skills
